Carrot Mobile Construction ... Construction began the 3rd week of Februrary in 2007 and completed mid August. To date, this is the second longest time I had spent on a single project.

The day after unloading the Carrot Mobile into my parking space, I had intened on taking her on a spin around the block but for some odd reason, the carrot mobile wouldn't budge. After a bit of investigation, I found that the battery cables were in extremely bad shape.
Whoops, not only the battery terminals were damaged, but the heat sink on the first gear speed controller was 90% corroded away and nearly dysfunctional. The other three were also in extremely poor shape.

After initial repairs, the Carrot Mobile was torn down, ripped up and leveled.
| The decking was created in two halfs. The first half was a bit challenging since I had to build a drivers seat. |
| The platform is now in one piece. It is not yet bolted down, but fits like a charm. I was also surprised to realize just how tight it would be in my yard. |
| First test of scale and a bolted-down platform. The platform is held down by four bolts on the front and back. This image is to give an idea of how tall the first carrot will be. |
| HID UV flood successfully mounted. This has to be sturdy since the flood weighs 50 pounds and at the end of a long pole which will sway while in motion. |

Installation of the electrical system.
| Assembly of the interior lights. |
First test of an illuminated carrot. You can see the uncovered UV light on the left and fabric draped over the carrot on the right.
| The green "bed sheet" that will provide a cover for the platform. |
In afterthought, I forgot to plug in the battery charger. Whoops. Access was easy with the assistance of a bottle jack.
Success! Two carrots, fully lit.
Tempurpedic foam fitted onto the platform. The space in the back is for the generator.
