I remember being just 3 feet tall at my aunt Marissa's home in San Jose sitting on the bar stool making polvoron and eating it faster than it can be wrapped. Polvoron is a toasty filipino candy. It's slightly savory with a very delicate powdery texture.
Ingredients:
3 Cups flour
3 Cups powdered milk
1.5 Cups sugar
1.5 Cups butter
| 1. |
Melt Butter |
| 2. |
Toast flour over medium high heat until it forms a nutty aroma. Stir frequently. Becareful not to burn the flour. |
3.
Combine the flour, sugar, powdered milk and butter. It's easier to do this with your hands. |
4.
Use a polvoron mold to form. A tablespoon may be used if you don't have a mold. A mold can be had for about $8 and can be found by a quick search on google. |

Line up the polvoron and place in the fridge for 15 minutes to firm up. Chilling will make it easier to wrap.

Wrap the polvoron in a 5x7 piece of tissue wrapping paper. Amazingly, I found this tissue wrapping paper next to the paper plates at Safeway.
